Telehealth
Telepsychology became a necessary innovation in the service of providing continuous, safe psychotherapy during the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. Telepsychology allows therapists to continue to meet with clients where they are and still honor the periodic need to reduce direct contact while maintaining face-to-face or phone communication as the need emerges. Although we have been able to transition back to in person sessions for the most part, telehealth remains an option that offers increased access as well as a way to protect each other during times of illness.
Telepsychology sessions (video or telephone) are also helpful in maintaining regular sessions with clients who are away on travel or confined to their homes and allows therapy to occur in the location most comfortable to them.
